Note that for the 2012 season, we have moved to the second weekend of June.

Here are the particulars:

Dates: June 8-10, 2012

Place: Olivet College, Olivet, Michigan

Times: Check-in opens 11 AM on Friday; June 8; Camp ends 2:30 PM on Sunday, June 10

The "Pre-Camp": Our low pressure Pre-Camp Program takes place this year on the evening of Thursday June 7 and the morning of Friday June 8. It consists of staff-led jams, Q & A  sessions, and demonstrations. Check-in for the pre-camp begins at 3:30PM on Thursday June 7.

What We're About: At MBC, you can study old-time or bluegrass banjo with some of today's best players and teachers in both styles. You can also study fiddle and guitar with top players and teachers (more on this below). Our program features hands-on classes, demonstrations, and two faculty concerts, and still leaves lots of time for jamming with your fellow banjo enthusiasts.

Here are our instructors for 2012:

Old-time: Cathy Barton Para, Bob Carlin, and Ken Perlman are returning from last year. Returning instructors from previous years are Mac Benford, Howie Bursen, Chris Coole, Cathy Fink, and Joe Newberry. Our newcomer is Tom Sauber.

Bluegrass: Janet Beazley, Bill Evans, Gerald Jones, Alan O'Bryant, Alan Munde, and novices-instructor Mike Sumner are returning from last year. Returning from previous years are Greg Cahill, Ryan Cavanaugh, and (tentatively) Bill Keith. Our newcomer is Matt Flinner.

Fiddle Track: Our primary instructor this year is old-time West Virginia fiddler Bobby Taylor. Fiddle classes will also be taught by Tom Sauber (old-time fiddle) and Steve Whelan (bluegrass fiddle).

Guitar Track: Our principle instructor in the track is bluegrass guitarist Russ Barenberg. Other guitar classes will be taught by Dave Para.

Other classes:  Bluegrass Mandolin (taught by Matt Flinner), bass (Tom Ball), Banjo Maintenance & Repair (Stretch Reinsmith), and others TBA
