Friday the 13th does NOT scare us. In fact, Friday, January 13th will probably be one of most successful concerts to date. We were going to wait until December 1 to start selling tickets, but people are already asking when they'll be able to purchase their tickets. So....NOW! Now the tickets are on sale.
We are once again looking to you, our membership and readers, to help us bring this music to our area. We are looking for Patrons, Sponsors, and Supporters. The benefit to the HVBA is well known. The benefits to you can be found on our website.
Hats off (3rd consecutive time that he is the FIRST Patron) to R.J. Storm, our first Patron for the Blue Highway concert. And thanks go out to Wayne Fugate, our first Supporter. These guys didn't even wait for the HVBA to ask for their help. Thank you both so very much for your generosity. |

Guess who is wearing this one-of-a-kind jacket? If you think it is the HVBA Vice-President, Peter Conklin....you are so right. Peter is also the leader of our Slow Jam and will be at The Brown Derby next Wednesday (December 7) wearing, hopefully, his new jacket. The song for the Slow Jam this week is "Clinch Mountain Backstep." |

| Laurie Lewis and The Right Hands |
Chalk up another wonderful evening of bluegrass music in Poughkeepsie by a great band. Laurie and her band delighted a happy audience, especially when they left the stage and joined the audience for the harmony singing of "Who Will Watch The Home Place." Thanks to all who were there and to all who made the concert possible.
If you would like to see some of the photos taken by Jeff Anzevino, visit our website and the HVBA YouTube Channel. A combination of Jeff's photos and those taken by Faith Oland can be viewed on our website. |

It's not every day that we are lucky enough to have a former fiddler from the Blue Grass Boys review a CD for us. Gene Lowinger has listened to, and reviewed, Byron Berline's tribute to Bill Monroe. You'll find it on our website now. |

Hi ,
Because you and The Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association have been such great supporters of the International Songwriting Competition (ISC), we wanted to let you know about a new music competition that we are launching called Unsigned Only. The website is www.unsignedonly.com. We are hoping that you will distribute and/or help us to promote the press release below. Unsigned Only is completely separate from and different to ISC. It is not a songwriting competition; rather, it is a music competition designed for solo artists, bands, and singers who are not signed to a major label record company or any of its affiliates, subsidiaries, or imprints. The goal of Unsigned Only is to find an outstanding, talented performer: a band, singer, or solo artist...a newcomer or veteran...raw or polished - the "gem" that needs to be discovered. Unsigned Only is looking for the total package. Judging criteria includes vocals, performance, originality, and songwriting. There is also a category just for Vocal Performance which accepts songs that are not original. We are very excited about this new venture, and thank you in advance for helping us to spread the word.
if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.
Best Wishes,
Candace Avery
