| Bill Monroe Centennial Celebration |
It was BIG! We all thought that this event at the Arlington Street Fair would be big and we were not disappointed. What a wonderful, wonderful day of bluegrass music. The audience kept on growing and our tented area provided a refuge for the weary. They came for a rest and they stayed for the music. OR...they came for the music and stayed for more music.
Thanks to the talents of our Member Bands, a large group of newbies to bluegrass were able to hear the Hudson Valley's best bands. We owe our appreciation to Two Dollar Goat, The Buffalo Gals, Hudson Crossing, Mama Tried, Too Blue, and Grass Fed.
The HVBA has been awarded our own YouTube Channel! Fred Robbins has edited some "home movies" for us to create a montage that captures the sounds of the bands at the Fair. Sadly, the photographer (me, Lynn Lipton) forgot to actually push the record button for Hudson Crossing's performance and is greatly chagrined. Apologies are offered for the error. However, please do take a look at our YouTube Channel to hear the bands from last Saturday. While you are at our Channel, be sure to hit the "subscribe" button to be notified when new videos are posted.
The still photographs are now up on our website, just in case you missed the fun.
BTW, one of the purposes of this YouTube Channel is for marketing our Association and bluegrass music. We are looking for someone to write a script for a short promotional video for us. If you ever had aspirations to write a screenplay....well, here is a possible way to start. You write the script and we'll do the filming. Of course, if you would like to do the entire project....go for it. |

| Welcome to Our New Member |
Christine Blossy has recently joined the HVBA and we happily welcome her to our family. In addition, we've had many new people sign up to receive our newsletter since this past weekend in Arlington. It is great to have you all with us and we urge you to consider joining the HVBA, along with Christine.
For only $15/year, your entire household will become HVBA members and are entitled to discounts to all of our concerts. You also will be supporting our many educational projects. This year we are planning a two month "Bluegrass In The Schools" program in conjunction with The Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie. We are currently working with Marist College's "Center Of Lifetime Studies" program, where we hope to have a six week course for seniors about bluegrass music. All of this takes energy AND funds. Your can help us realize these projects by joining the HVBA today. Just visit our website and look for the red "Join or Renew Membership" button at the upper left of the page. It's easy and completely secure. |
