| The Bill Monroe Centennial Celebration |
This is going to be BIG!! Bill Monroe Centennial Celebration - A Call for Bands
On Saturday September 24rd, the HVBA is hosting a celebration of Bill Monroe's One Hundredth Birthday year.
This event will be a part of the very successful Arlington Business District Community Fair.
For the community fair, Raymond Avenue will be closed to traffic from Collegeview to Main Street. HVBA has received a premium site in the center of this corridor to set up a stage exclusively for the Bill Monroe Celebration. HVBA will provide a stage, and a sound system for the event.
We need your help, but especially we need your band to come perform. We have a few simple criteria.
1. Any performing band needs to be an HVBA member Band.
2. You can perform as many Bill Monroe tunes as you like. We only ask that you perform at least a couple of his tunes in your set.
3. Although this is largely a volunteer effort by everyone involved, the HVBA wants to offset the band's expenses and will give you $25/band member, up to a max of $125 per band.
Remember, this is truly good exposure for your band as there will be thousands of visitors. It is also Vassar College Freshman Parents Weekend, so lots of out-of-towners too.
To help your band advertise, we suggest you bring fliers, cards, website information, and CD's with you. The HVBA will have an information table for new member sign-up, and we will be happy to display any material you wish to use to promote your band.
Once we have a count of bands interested in participating we will send you information on how long the sets will be and an order of appearance.
You can read more about past street fairs at our website.
This opportunity is open to Member Bands only. To become an HVBA Member Band follow this link.
If your band is interested in participating in the Bill Monroe Centennial Celebration, please contact us.
Look for more details in our next newsletter and on our website. |

| Harmony Workshop |
Unless more people show an interest in the Harmony Workshop, we will cancel our plans to proceed. This promises to be a very productive workshop and we do hope you will visit the polling website and let us know if you are interested in joining us.
The possible dates for this workshop are October 22 or October 29.
In order for us to proceed with this workshop, we need more people to sign up. We need you to take our poll to let us know if we should continue to pursue this event. Click here to read the complete description of the workshop (scroll down to the section on Harmony Workshop). Take the poll now. Please add your name to the list whether or not you are interested. We need your feedback.

| From Our Members |
Hi Folks,
Last weekend was 4 days of absolutely exhausting, fantastic fun in the Catskill Mountains of NY. This year there was nary a drop of rain; and only the last day was really hot.
This year was truly even better than the last...and seemed to go twice as fast. It was bittersweet leaving on Sunday afternoon. Volunteering with this crew was a dream! And we're always treated royally.
I'm starting to trickle out videos, one per day - so far at least. You can find them on the Grey Fox Video Blog here and the Grey Fox YouTube Channel here. Fred
More from Fred:
Folks,
The video of the Kenny Baker Memorial Orchestra tribute at Grey Fox is now available here.
I'm honored to have been onstage as part of the video team for this great event.
