A Concert & A Jam With Special Consensus
When: Friday, February 11 at 6:30pm
Where: Sugar & Spice Café - Poughkeepsie Plaza
Tickets: Online at Website or call 475-8830

Special Consensus with Greg Cahill, former IBMA President, have been at the forefront of the IBMA's "Bluegrass In The Schools" program. On Feb. 11, in the afternoon, the band will be at Oakwood Friends School to demonstrate bluegrass instruments, answer questions and entertain students and faculty in anticipation of the BITS program the HVBA hopes to present next year at their school.

In the evening, HVBA members and non-members will be treated to an unusual and intimate concert and jam at the Sugar & Spice Café. The first 50 people to buy their tickets will have their spots reserved and only 25 of those will be musicians. This is your chance to play with one of the best bands in the country. Don't miss out. Tickets are already selling.

Old Time Bluegrass Singers
When: Saturday, March 5 at 7:00pm (come earlier and have your dinner)
Where: Sugar & Spice Cafe - Poughkeepsie Plaza
Tickets: Online or call 475-8830

From Jerry Oland: "I have personally known most of these fine musicians since the early 1990's, when I picked banjo with the Massachusetts band Bear Acker and Billings Gap. During that period we performed many shows with these folks, and I can attest they're all solid bluegrass veterans. Robert and Lillian Fraker for many years headed up the Bear Bridge Band from Western Massachusetts, and Dick Bowden is a wonderful bluegrass singer and instrumentalist from the State of Maine. Terry McGill you may recognize from the New Jersey based band Straight Drive, and Herb Applin is just about a bluegrass legend in New England. They know bluegrass inside and out, they've paid their dues, and they're from our neck of the woods. I'm excited they're traveling all the way to Poughkeepsie to perform for us, and I hope you come out to hear them."

Joe Val Festival
If anyone is driving to Joe Val on Friday afternoon, would you please contact Kalia Yeagle at Vassar College. Kalia needs a ride, but isn't able to leave Poughkeepsie until after 4pm on the 18th.
